The client requires that the speech and language therapist has experience of working with children with speech and language difficulties in a school setting. The speech therapist will be expected to manage a caseload of up to 25 students.
The role involves assessment, setting targets in collaboration with school staff and parents, developing and implementing direct and indirect speech and language programmes to meet students’ needs as specified on their Educational Health and Care Plan.
You will provide individual or small group sessions and provide specialist support for students. Some formal training for school staff may be required. You will also provide ad hoc training and advice in a flexible manner for staff either requesting help or those referred by the school. In addition you will provide support to parents; meeting parents at annual or multi-professional reviews and arranging ad hoc meetings to offer support and advice as required.
